ATLASINTESTINAL PARASITES (Protozoa)
      LOBOSEA Order: Amoebida

      ENTAMOEBA HARTMANNI

      hart1-ic

Entamoeba hartmanni: The identification of intestinal amoebae depends
on the size and shape of trophozoites and cysts
and on morphology and number of nuclei.
Entamoeba hartmanni is a commensal of the large intestine with
      a world-wide distribution.

      hart2-ic

Entamoeba hartmanni trophozoites (4-11 µm) are similar to
E.histolytica trophozoites, present a small karyosome often eccentrical.

Entamoeba hartmanni cyst: immature cysts (7-10 µm)
are spherical with 1 or 2 nuclei.

       E_hartmanni1:
Entamoeba hartmanni cyst: small cyst with one visible nucleus.
The nucleus shows the peripheral chromatin and a central karyosome
      (Lugol stain).

Entamoeba hartmanni: mature cysts (7-10 µm) have 4 nuclei,
are very similar to E.histolytica and can be differentiated mainly on size.

Entamoeba hartmanni: cysts are 5-8 µm in diameter.
In the left cyst (containing one nucleus)
the sausage-shaped chromatidial body is present. Stained fecal film.
